Ithaca is Gorges?

This weekend, we were in Ithaca, NY for the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (ECCC) championships. On Saturday morning, during the Team Time Trial, Luke and I found a grassy spot to sit and watch the racers go off.
But we were asked to move from off of the grass, since it was someone's lawn... So we moved onto the side of the road.
Then a police officer came over and said, "Are you two scoring for the race?"
"No, we're just watching. Are we alright to sit here?"
"Yeah, I think so. It's just that the woman who lives here (points to a really old house) keeps a timberwolf in there (points right behind us to a really old barn) and it has escaped before... a few times... So just be careful."
"Uh..."
"Don't worry, as long as there's no dogs around... like that one, (points to a dog about 100 feet away) you should be okay. Otherwise, it'll probably try to escape again."
Welcome to Ithaca.
