For those of you who enjoy reading our blog (or perhaps just read it when you're bored with Freecell), but get aggravated with the inconsistency of my postings, this post is for you.

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds allow you to keep track of different news sources, blogs, (and lots of other things, I'm sure) that you're interested in... You simply type an address into the reader, and it checks that website as often as you'd like for updates.

One way to think of it is if you had 1000 mailboxes for your house, one for your electric bills, one for your Stargate SG-1 fan magazines, one for your love letters from Matthew McConaughey... You may get a love letter in that mailbox three days in a row, and then not again for three months, since he'd be busy filming movies. Checking every mailbox everyday would be ridiculously time consuming. But if you got a friend to go out and get all of the mail out of your 1000 mailboxes and give it to you in one pile, or a few grouped piles, it would save you a lot of time. You could even ask him to let you know which mailboxes were empty and which had things in them. Sound intriguing?

Step 1: Make a google account by going to this link.. This will give you access to a lot of cool Google things... You won't be able to get a Google Mail (gmail) account this way, but if you're interested in one, shoot me an e-mail and I'll send you an invitation.

Step 2: Go to http://www.google.com/reader/view/

Step 3: In the open box at the top, enter http://lukejen.blogspot.com, and click "Search for New Content." It should bring you to a page that has some of my blog post titles on the left "4 posts one day, then none for a month" "Here's to you, Mrs. Schneider" "Fritos" etc, and a full blog post on the right. If this is not the case, shoot me an e-mail and we'll get it figured out.

Step 4: Click "Return to your Reading List". Whenever you go to http://reader.google.com, it will look like this. If will mark unread articles in bold, and the read articles will be lighter. If you enter some more blog addresses, it will list all of the unread articles from all of the blogs here in bold, so that you can easily read all new postings from all of your blogs. You can opt to hide read articles by clicking on "hidden" at the bottom left side of the page. Additionally, if you love looking at this beautiful blog page, and wouldn't be able to live without the beautiful blue and green background, you can click on "Show Original Item" and see it in all its glory.
